I'm a PhD student in the Communication in Professions and Organisations program offered by the Dept of Linguistics at Macquarie University. I'm currently writing five research articles as I've been adopted by the thesis by publication format. I discovered applied linguistics by accident, having worked in the private sector in a number of roles and industries including business intelligence and management consulting. Like most people, in order to achieve success at work I needed solid 'communication skills'. I've now reversed roles and research these 'communication skills'.
